Pack 251
From Pack 251 popcorn kernel Jill: We offered a drive-thru popcorn sale at the school/church where our Pack is chartered. Even though it rained most of the first day, we made about the same amount as we made during our Show and Sell the first weekend of the sale. As an added bonus, we sold both wreaths and popcorn.
Advertise, advertise, advertise! We advertised our sale in the church bulletin, school announcements, community Facebook groups, Pack Facebook page, and NextDoor. In addition to increased traffic, we also made several wreath sales from the community Facebook posts.
The more Scouts the better. With a drive-thru you lose the personal connection that happens with the traditional Show and Sell, so the more Scouts you have holding signs and advertising the sale the better.
Have the Scouts make their own signs. As you can see from the pictures, we encouraged the Scouts to come with their own personalized signs (some of the adults made their own signs too). A number of people told us the creativity of our homemade signs made them stop and buy.
Shorter hours - Having never done this before, we set up shop for an entire day. If we do it again, I'd do it smaller blocks of time (4 hours or less).
Stay safe - When the Scouts were standing on the road, we put out orange traffic cones separating the Scouts from the road and had the younger Scouts wear yellow safety vests.
