Reminder, we have created a safe and effective Fallen Hero Ceremony for this year! Please note location, date and start time remain the same.
Event details:
Saturday, December 12
Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery
21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI 53182
9:00-11:00 a.m.
Event format:
We will only conduct wreath laying, no ceremony. We are allowing a total of 80 car groups to participate, with 20 cars arriving each half hour. Please keep CDC guidelines in mind when determining car members. If your unit is planning on bringing more than one car, each driver must register for their car.
We will have a lineup of the first 20 cars along the cemetery driveway to lay wreaths. Each car will be assigned a number, 1-4. This number corresponds with what section car members are able to lay wreaths at. Everyone must stay in their vehicle until they are instructed to drive up to their assigned section of the cemetery. Each car will be given wreath bundles to lay within their assigned section of cemetery. All participants must wear a mask while laying wreaths. Participants will have approximately 5-10 minutes to lay wreaths, depending on how many car groups sign up. Only one car at a time will lay wreaths per section. When done, participants will return to their car and drive along the driveway out of the cemetery.
To participate, please complete the Fallen Hero Sign-up Survey, where you will secure a car group time slot for the event. Deadline to register is this Thursday, December 10 at noon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through these unprecedented times.
Reminder: The Milwaukee ceremony has been canceled. Numerous changes made by the cemetery did not make it possible for the council to hold a ceremony this year. We hope to have the opportunity to host a ceremony at this location next year.
