Dear Scout Leaders and Parents:
With the continued improvements in COVID-19 rates in our council territory and the increase in vaccinations, Three Harbors Council is updating guidance regarding district and council meetings and sharing a reminder on safety precautions for in-person unit meetings.
District & Council Meetings
Currently, the first option for district and council meetings and trainings remains via a virtual format. However, limited in-person gatherings are permissible following the same guidelines as unit meetings. Starting on April 1st, the dining halls at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta and Camp IMR will be open to host district and council meetings with limited capacity. The Milwaukee Scout Service Center’s PieperPower Learning Center will also be available for groups of 40 or less.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, food service and drinks are not allowed inside the camp dining halls or PieperPower Learning Center at this time. District and council groups may also hold outdoor activities if approved in advance by the COVID-19 Scouting Task Force. Please contact the Task Force via Wally Smith, Director of Camping Services, at Wally.Smith@Scouting.org.
In-Person Meeting Safety Precautions
All in-person Scout meetings and activities must be conducted within the guidelines of local health departments and following the BSA’s Safe Restart Checklist. Decisions regarding in-person meetings and activities should be approved by the unit’s charter organization. All attendees at indoor meetings are required to wear face coverings, follow social distancing guidelines, and complete a COVID-19 Pre-Event Medical Checklist. Leaders should make hand sanitizer available and encourage frequent handwashing.
Units are encouraged to use virtual formats and outdoor settings whenever possible and particularly for large gatherings such as pack meetings, Blue & Gold banquets, and Court of Honors. Please check out the BSA COVID-19 FAQ for more information
Alternative Unit Meeting Locations
The dining halls at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta and Camp IMR are available to host unit meetings with limited capacity and no indoor food or drink service allowed. Also, the Milwaukee Scout Service Center’s PieperPower Learning Center will be available for groups of 40 or less. To reserve a meeting space, please contact Katie Schneider at Katie.Schneider@Scouting.org or 414-443-2842.
