Last week, one of our very first recruitment events took place and 14 new Cub Scouts and their families joined Scouting! This week, youth from more than 27 different schools throughout the council will have their first opportunity to join Scouting. District and council volunteers and staff are ready to support you in any way we can!

The national BSA Brand Center and all the resources contained in it are available to you anytime you need. You can find images for enhancing your unit’s social media channels, different sample flyers and posters, email templates for inviting former Cub Scouts back, and more. Make sure you visit the BSA Brand Center to improve your recruiting efforts.

WELCOME BACK TEMPLATES
Throughout 2020, many families drifted away from Scouting simply because units were not able to meet in person. However, those families didn’t drift away from the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law. Help them find their way back! Use these materials to invite them back! Let’s remind them of the fun, excitement, and value of Scouting!

NEW FAMILY INFORMATION
Make sure you have your Pack’s calendar, budget, and leadership roster ready for your new families that sign-up to join your pack this fall. Families may also look for something they can fill out and stick on their refrigerator door to refer to quickly. Use this one-pager or the Pack info sheet in the Parent Orientation Guide available from Three Harbors Council.
COUNCIL FACEBOOK GEOFENCING
Three Harbors Council has paid to geofence more than 38 Cub Scout Pack recruitment events scheduled this month. Geofencing is a way to market your event throughout a virtual geographic boundary to your defined audience, effectively sending an ad to your target audience through their Facebook feed when they’ve entered that boundary. Schedule your School Night event as soon as possible and complete this form to get your event geofenced. Geofencing is most effective when it runs for 10-14 days leading up to the event..
NATIONAL WEBINAR – SEPTEMBER 9
On September 9, at 8pm Eastern / 7pm Central, the National Marketing and Membership webinar will discuss a variety of recruiting strategies units can start using immediately. Topics will include "friend storming," the use of Facebook geofencing to go beyond school access, yard signs, QR codes, and more!
Check out this and more by visiting the national recruitment toolkit!
COUNCIL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES
Make sure to promote the recruitment incentives available to Scouts, leaders and units this fall:
- All New Cub Scouts will receive a free Pinewood Derby Car
- Cubmasters and Pack recruitment chairs that achieve their agreed-upon goal will receive a Three Harbors Council fleece vest
- The unit with the greatest percentage growth in Cub Scouts in each district will receive a pizza party from Three Harbors Council
Remember These Three Things!
- When families attend a recruitment event, they attend to join and pay fees THAT NIGHT!
- In the fall, everyone in Scouting is involved in youth membership growth!
- Cub Scouts is not a spectator sport, it's an adventure you take with your child!
Join your fellow leaders in helping Three Harbors Council achieve its goal of recruiting at least 800 new Cub Scouts between now and October 31!
