Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Counseling
Citizenship in Society is a new merit badge in the Boy Scouts of America’s program for youth in Scouts BSA. It launched on November 1, 2021 and is an Eagle-required merit badge. The Citizenship in Society merit badge encourages Scouts to explore information on diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethical leadership, and learn why these qualities are important in society and in Scouting. Three Harbors Council's Advancement Committee has appointed a volunteer task force to address the proper implementation of this new merit badge, including developing a training to provide merit badge counselors with the resources necessary for this merit badge. Approval as a Citizenship in Society merit badge counselor will include this training. Individuals interested in serving as a Citizenship in Society merit badge counselor should email the volunteer advancement team.
