Dear Scout Leaders and Parents:
As we all deal with the impact of the highly contagious Omicron variant, this is a reminder of COVID-19 safety guidelines for Scout meetings and activities in Three Harbors Council. We continue to follow the guidance from expert agencies and follow the measures that have become second nature to many – hand hygiene, masks, distancing, meeting in cohorts and remaining at home if you have symptoms or feel unwell.
Here is an overview of the key COVID-19 safety guidelines in place in our council:
Unit Meetings & Activities
Unit leaders should follow local health guidelines and continue to practice social distancing in all Scouting activities. For indoor meetings and activities, face masks are required for all youth and adults in attendance. We encourage units to avoid crowded and poorly ventilated indoor activities. Face masks are optional in outdoor settings where social distancing is incorporated. Individuals may choose to continue wearing face masks even when it is not required.
Scout leaders should consider using virtual formats and outdoor settings whenever possible during the current surge in cases in our area. Decisions regarding in-person meetings and activities should be made by the unit committee in partnership with your charter organization.
Camp Facilities
The camp dining halls at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta or Indian Mound Scout Reservation continue to be open for meetings. Face masks are required to be worn inside the dining hall. Sleeping cabins at both camps remain open with capacity limited to 50%. All overnight campers, including adults, will be required to pass a COVID-19 self-health assessment and complete a waiver form before arriving at camp. Face masks will be required in the cabins except when sleeping or during meals. While outdoors at camp, face masks are not required except for in program areas that do not allow for social distancing or as instructed by camp staff.
Council Service Center & Scout Shop
Visitors to the Milwaukee Council Service Center & Scout Shop are required to wear facemasks per the City of Milwaukee’s new mask mandate.
