Thank you for volunteering to serve as a leader in Cub Scouting. This year, we look to build on our success from last year by recruiting at least 950 new Cub Scouts into Scouting between now and Halloween. This fall, everyone will help grow Cub Scout membership!
As a registered Cub Scout leader, we are excited to include you in this effort and will be sharing ideas and resources on a bi-weekly basis through the end of November in this Cub Scout Recruitment Newsletter. Thank you in advance for your help this fall to grow Cub Scouting!
PACK PREPARATION
By now, you should have attended your District Cub Scout Fall Recruitment Kick-off. This event laid out the plan for successful Cub Scout recruitment this fall as you partner with your district leadership to put on a great recruitment event. Use this checklist to make sure you’re prepared for recruitment event.
BEASCOUT.ORG
Hundreds of families will be looking for Cub Scout Packs in the communities Three Harbors Council serves. Many of them will start by going to BeAScout.org.
Your key unit leadership needs to update your unit’s BeAScout.org pin as soon as possible. Only 19 of our 73 Cub Scout Packs have updated their BeAScout pin in the last six months; some haven’t been updated since August 2019! Odds are your pack information has changed; update your pin today so prospective members get the most current information about your pack.

MODEL ROCKET RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE
All new Cub Scouts who register to join Scouting between August 1 and October 31 will receive a model rocket from Three Harbors Council. Online applications must be approved by a member of the unit Key 3 and paper applications must be turned in to your district executive to receive rockets. For paper applications turned in to the Milwaukee Service Center or Kenosha Scout Shop, a voucher will be provided which you can exchange with your district executive for model rockets.
CUB SCOUT RECRUITMENT RESEARCH TIP
The target audience for influencing the decision for a child to join Cub Scouts is typically MOM! Consider what Mom is looking for in your pack program:
SCOUT LIFE MAGAZINE
Scout Life Magazine is a great tool to keep Scouts interested in the Scouting program. Scouts who subscribe to Scout Life Magazine are more likely to stay in Scouting than those who do not subscribe. Check out how you can promote Scout Life Magazine to your incoming Scouts!
ONLINE REGISTRATION REMINDER
Like last year, online registration fees for the remainder of 2022 and all of 2023 will be collected for new Cub Scouts that register starting on October 1, 2022. To ensure your new Scouts do not have to pay that additional year of fees, complete your recruitment event, and approve ALL online applications before the end of September!
REMEMBER THESE THREE THINGS!
- When families attend a recruitment event, they attend to join and pay fees THAT NIGHT!
- In the fall, everyone in Scouting is involved in youth membership growth!
- Cub Scouts is an adventure you can take with your child!
