RECRUITMENT PROGRESS
Congratulations to all our Packs who have held successful recruitment events already this fall. Thanks to your efforts, we’ve recruited 239 new Cub Scouts so far. 13 Cub Scout Packs will hold recruitment events this week which will help us reach our goal of registering at least 950 new Cub Scouts in Three Harbors Council this fall!
SUBMITTING NEW YOUTH APPLICATIONS
If you’ve collected paper applications or have online applications pending acceptance, it’s IMPORTANT that all applications and fees are submitted to the Council Service Center or Kenosha Scout Shop or approved no more than 24 hours after your recruitment event. If you have unsubmitted or unapproved applications for new members, and new members are participating in your programs, they are NOT:
- Covered by BSA insurance,
- Able to be synced properly in Scoutbook,
- Able to have Scout Life magazine sent to them and,
- Cannot have advancement recorded.
Additionally, new adult leaders should complete their adult application and Youth Protection Training before participating in Pack activities as a leader.
Youth Safety should be at the forefront of everything we do as adult leaders in the BSA. Having properly registered youth members and properly registered and trained adult members is the first step in ensuring we are taking all the proper steps to keep ALL BSA members safe!
BEASCOUT.ORG
Since August 1, 218 (just over 91%) of our new Cub Scouts have joined a Pack using online registration after they visited BeAScout.org! 37 Packs have accepted at least one online Cub Scout application! This IS the way that many families are signing-up to join Cub Scouts.
Hundreds of families continue to look for Cub Scout Packs by going to BeAScout.org first. If you haven’t updated your unit pin information for a while, update it today. Make sure you or your unit leadership is checking the Invitation Manager and Application Manager sections of my.scouting.org to follow-up on any membership leads you have and to approve applications daily!

COUNCIL RESOURCES
Three Harbors Council is committed to supporting your unit’s recruitment efforts. We’ve developed a Fall Recruitment plan that all units can implement which will take advantage of as many available council resources as possible.
Visit our Cub Scout Recruitment Resources page to find more information about preparing your Scouts and families for fall recruitment, social media promotion strategies your pack can implement, recruitment presentation resources, and resources for families the night of your recruitment event.
Through your generous Friends of Scouting donations, Three Harbors Council will provide your pack with flyers, posters, yard signs, buddy cards, Facebook advertising, and more. Order your recruitment materials from Three Harbors Council now!
COUNCIL FACEBOOK GEOFENCING
Three Harbors Council has scheduled dozens of Cub Scout Pack recruitment events for September, including geofencing for all units requesting it. Geofencing is a way to market your event throughout a virtual geographic boundary to your defined audience, effectively sending an ad to your target audience through their Facebook feed when they’ve entered that boundary. Schedule your Fall Recruitment event or follow-up event as soon as possible and complete this form to get your event geofenced. Geofencing is most effective when it runs for 10-14 days leading up to the event.
2022 CUB SCOUT FALL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE
All new Cub Scouts who register to join Scouting between August 1 and October 31 will receive a model rocket from Three Harbors Council. Online applications must be approved by a member of the unit Key 3 and paper applications must be turned in to your district executive to receive rockets. For paper applications turned in to the Milwaukee Service Center or Kenosha Scout Shop, a voucher will be provided which you can exchange with your district executive for model rockets.
NEW FAMILY INFORMATION
Make sure you have your Pack’s calendar, budget, and leadership roster ready for your new families that sign-up to join your pack this fall. Families may also look for something they can fill out and stick on their refrigerator door to refer to quickly. Use this one-pager or the Pack info sheet in the Parent Orientation Guide available from Three Harbors Council.

CUB SCOUT LEADER TRAINING IN PERSON
On October 22, the Council Training Committee will be conducting an in-person Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training for new and current leaders. This training covers the same information that is included in the online training, we are simply presenting it in-person for those that may enjoy training better through this method. Leaders who attend this training will complete all courses needed for all three Cub Scout Position-Specific groupings. For more information and to register, click here.

CUB SCOUT RECRUITMENT RESEARCH TIP
We know that young people want to join Scouting because it’s fun, outdoors, fun, fire, fun, camping, fun, BB guns and archery, and, did I mention, fun! But why do parents want their son our daughter to join Scouting?
Parents have more specific reasons for their son or daughter to be in Scouting, so make sure you’re addressing the reasons they want their children in Scouting as much as you’re talking about the fun!

SCOUT LIFE MAGAZINE
Scout Life Magazine is a great tool to keep Scouts interested in the Scouting program. Scouts who subscribe to Scout Life Magazine are more likely to stay in Scouting than those who do not subscribe. Check out how you can promote Scout Life Magazine to your incoming Scouts!
ONLINE REGISTRATION REMINDER
Like last year, online registration fees for the remainder of 2022 and all of 2023 will be collected for new Cub Scouts that register starting on October 1, 2022. To ensure your new Scouts do not have to pay that additional year of fees, complete your recruitment event, and approve ALL online applications before the end of September!
REMEMBER THESE THREE THINGS!
- When families attend a recruitment event, they attend to join and pay fees THAT NIGHT!
- In the fall, everyone in Scouting is involved in youth membership growth!
- Cub Scouts is an adventure you can take with your child!
