HAPPY THANKGIVING!
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the Scouts in Three Harbors Council! Enjoy your time with family and friends as we celebrate Thanksgiving this year.
RECRUITMENT PROGRESS
Three Harbors Council stands at 755 new Cub Scouts recruited this fall! Can you help us reach 800 by the end of this week? If you have applications to turn in, please make sure to turn them in before Friday, November 18.
SUBMITTING NEW YOUTH APPLICATIONS
If you’ve collected paper applications or have online applications pending acceptance, it’s IMPORTANT that all applications and fees are submitted to the Council Service Center or Kenosha Scout Shop or approved no more than 24 hours after your recruitment event. If you have unsubmitted or unapproved applications for new members, and new members are participating in your programs, they are NOT:
- Covered by BSA insurance,
- Able to be synced properly in Scoutbook,
- Able to have Scout Life magazine sent to them and,
- Cannot have advancement recorded.
Additionally, new adult leaders should complete their adult application and Youth Protection Training before participating in Pack activities as a leader.
Youth Safety should be at the forefront of everything we do as adult leaders in the BSA. Having properly registered youth members and properly registered and trained adult members is the first step in ensuring we are taking all the proper steps to keep ALL BSA members safe!
BEASCOUT.ORG
Hundreds of families continue to look for Cub Scout Packs by going to BeAScout.org first. If you haven’t updated your unit pin information for a while, update it today. Make sure you or your unit leadership is checking the Invitation Manager and Application Manager sections of my.scouting.org to follow-up on any membership leads you have and to approve applications daily!
Learn more about how to update your BeAScout.org pin and manage online leads and applications by clicking here.
ONLINE LEADS & APPLICATIONS
More than 103 leads or applications continue to be active in out unit’s Invitation Manager and Application Manager functions in my.scouting.org. We ask that every unit Key 3 review the leads and applications to follow-up with prospective Scout families or approve online applications. Council staff will help by making calls to each person on these lists as well. These families have shown interest in Scouting; it’s our responsibility to follow-up with them to involve them in Scouting program!
FOLLOW-UP RECRUITING EVENTS
Most units have conducted their initial recruitment event. In some units, a follow-up recruitment event needs to be planned. Some families may not have been able to attend your recruitment event, or your Pack may not have had the turnout you were expecting. This follow-up recruitment event should be tied-in to something your Pack already has scheduled. Advertise your next Pack Meeting or an upcoming Pack activity.
NORMAL FRIEND ACTIVITIES
It’s no secret that word-of-mouth advertising is one of the most successful ways to get more people interested in Scouting. Encourage your leaders and Scout families to check out this information on how to make it fun and easy to invite more families to join Scouting through "Normal Friend Activities."
HOLIDAY PARTY BUDDY CARDS
As we head into the holiday season, many packs hold holiday parties or other special events. These are great opportunities for you to invite potential new members to check out Scouting and get involved. The council can provide you with Buddy Cards to give to your Cub Scouts to invite their friends and family to an upcoming Pack event.
ROSTER CHECKS
Each fall, Three Harbors Council will do a roster check of your unit roster to help ensure all members are properly registered. Submit your unit-maintained roster to your district executive to be checked against council records. We’ll inform you if any of the members on your roster do not appear in our records and work with you to register those youth as soon as possible. This will ensure those members are covered by BSA insurance, can advance, are on your roster before starting rechartering, and more!
RECHARTER
The online rechartering system is now open for a member of your unit Key 3 or a designee to begin processing. The online process has several updates to the new version introduced last year. Please make sure all your youth and adult members are registered in advance of starting the recharter process and all your registered adults are current on their Youth Protection Training; this will make processing your recharter much easier!
2022-23 COUNCIL CUB SCOUT PROGRAM FLYER
As you look forward to the coming Scouting year, Three Harbors Council has put together some information on all the programs that we offer for Cub Scouts. Look at what’s happening this year in Scouting, and add these to your program plans!
ONLINE REGISTRATION REMINDER
Like last year, online registration fees for the remainder of 2022 and all of 2023 will be collected for new Cub Scouts that register starting on October 1, 2022. Please make sure you are informing any families that register online that they are registering with the BSA through December 31, 2023!
REMEMBER THESE THREE THINGS!
- When families attend a recruitment event, they attend to join and pay fees THAT NIGHT!
- In the fall, everyone in Scouting is involved in youth membership growth!
- Cub Scouts is an adventure you can take with your child!
