Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is required training for a pack to take Cub Scouts (including WEBELOS) Camping. This course satisfies the in-person requirement for BALOO training. At least 1 registered adult leader present during any Cub Scout campout (including a joint troop-pack campout) must be BALOO trained. Three Harbors Council recommends that each pack have as many BALOO trained leaders as possible to prevent having to cancel a camping event. This course will not turn you into an expert in camping. This course is an introduction to the following topics: GPS use, aquatics, gear selection, nature, hiking, campfire program planning, outdoor ethics, cooking and sanitation, first aid, knife safety, campsite selection, meal planning, games, interfaith worship (Scouts own), outdoor ceremonies, stoves, lanterns, fire safety, basic knots, and program planning. |
$35 by Monday, September 23, 2024 Course fees include lunch and dinner on the 28th, and breakfast on the 29th. |
