This 16-hour, overnight training course is designed for adult and youth members of Scouting 18 years of age and older who value the land and want to teach others how to protect and preserve it. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor certificate, a Level 1 Instructor pin and will be qualified to teach Leave No Trace skills and ethics to all levels of Scouting.
This course will meet the requirements for Summer Camp Staff 18 years of age and older to be trained as a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor.
There are many ways to teach Leave No Trace. Different training methods will be utilized throughout the course so you can see different styles and build confidence in planning your own workshops. As a participant in this training, you will be required to teach an assigned Leave No Trace principle to the group in a 10-to-12-minute lesson. This is a Train-the Trainer course and the expectation is that you use this training to further the Outdoor Ethics of our units in the furtherance of the BSA mission.
Upon successful completion you will be registered with Leave No Trace in Boulder, CO as a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor. There is a need for qualified Scouters to teach Workshops at the Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, Exploring and Venturing levels. Leave No Trace Workshops can be added to Council and District events and trainers will be needed to present them. Instructors are also needed to teach Outdoor Ethics modules within BALOO, Outdoor Leader Skills and Wood Badge courses.
Please join us at this training. Whatever level you wish to work at, you will be welcome.
