History of the Course
Imagine if you will, a leader in the year 1919, with a  dream to supply adults with materials that would be beneficial to self, family, Scouting units, districts and council that would still be striving  just 100 years later.
Though Wood Badge has evolved to meet the ever changing world of technology, innovation, and the needs of families in this century, it continues to be the ultimate training experience of Scouting  today.

Concept
The Wood Badge experience develops ones skills to better improve the unit, while also developing skills that can be beneficial to ones life outside of Scouting as well.

Who May Attend Wood Badge
Wood Badge is designed to benefit ALL leaders (Volunteer and Professional) in ANY BSA program.

Qualifications
Each participant must be a registered member of the BSA, and  have completed the basic training courses for their Scouting position.

What One Can Expect?
Wood Badge is the BSA’s premier training course. It’s held over two weekends & divided into two parts, PRACTICAL & APPLICATION.

Practical - The two weekends - you learn & practice a combination of strategies to help you become a better leader within your units.

Application - The 18 month period following the Course during which time you further practice and demonstrate the leadership principles presented during the Course.

Demonstration is done through the completion of a “ticket” which is a set of goals revolving around a personal mission statement.  Completing these goals shows your understanding of the concepts & provides a significant contribution to your unit.
